Masks of the Mandra begins during a wild storm on the bleak island of Pylon, when a young shepherd boy named Dendron encounters an animal god from ancient times. The creature leads him to discover a tomb in which he finds a sacred object of great magickal power. Dendron is forced to launch across his world on the desperate journey of a lifetime, in an attempt to reconcile humanity with the Aerian Gods of old. He grows to manhood in the process and uncovers deep mysteries older than Time itself, but will he succeed in his quest?

Nwylandra is a southern continent of a world where history unfolds in spirals, rather than the kind of linear stories we tell in our world. The Nwylandrans have developed railroad lines served by engines called steamoxen, and lighter-than-air transports called airwhales, accomplishing great feats of technological invention. However some of those innovations are being used destructively. Still the Powers of ancient times are not entirely gone. The advent of the shepherd boy Dendron sets in motion a new spiral of time to remind even the gods of Nwylandra that Love is the greatest power of all.

Dendron (shown at ages 14 and 23) is a primary character of Masks of the Mandra, which begins when he lives on Pylon as the foster-child of an old shepherd named Datrig. Though most Nwylandrans believe the giant rabbits of Pylon are no more than a myth, Dendron and his foster-father Datrig know differently . . .

The Second Trinity of Creation: Annora, Remindra, and Bromandra

(The First Trinity of Creation is Nox, Flux, and Fixx: The Void, Mist, and Matter)

Before the Egg of Time hatched, from the Void emerged Mist and Matter, whose interaction generated the Second Trinity of Creation: Annora (the Sky), Remindra (the Earth), and Bromandra (the Air). These three became the parents of all the Powers of Nwylandra. When Bromandra lifted their sister Annora back up to her place above Remindra, the Egg of Time hatched and the spirals of history began to unfurl.
